Follow Andy through a led primary series, the sequence taught by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. Led class helps establish proper vinyasa count in an individual’s practice. It also builds bodily and mindful strength through surrender to the teacher’s count and connection to traditional lineage. The led half series introduces beginner students to the Ashtanga practice, breath, bandha, dristhi, and vinyasa count. Additional modifications and instructions will be provided to help practitioners navigate the series.
Join Andy for a different take on the ashtanga method, specifically the lead series. Open to all practitioners, from beginner to advanced, Ashtanga Vinyasa will use the traditional ashtanga format to practice a modified Primary Series and Ashtanga Improv uses the format to build into postures requested by attendees. Both classes can last 45-90 minutes and are appropriate for practitioners of all levels, but best for those with some asana experience.
Power Vinyasa Flow is a highly adaptable, dynamic, and powerful asana practice which focuses on linking breath with movement and liberating your authentic self. Combining the physical elements of strength, flexibility, and balance with the internal goals of mindfulness, stillness, and equanimity yields an effective practice. PVF classes can be focused on a certain group of postures or part of the body, or they can be broad spectrum, addressing the whole body equally. Classes can last 45 to 120 minutes.
Join Andy for an exploration of Ashtanga Yoga theory, philosophy, and practice. Come prepared to dive into Patanjali’s eight limbs of yoga, the Mysore Method, Tristhana, and the Prirmary Series. This workshop/series is designed for individuals new to the Ashtanga method, whether they are new to yoga or not. The Mysore method of yoga instruction is a simple and powerful way to build a personal practice because the student is given new poses in a set sequence only when they are ready to move forward. It is equal parts awakening, empowering, exhausting, and re-energizing.
This workshop is designed to help launch your exploration of yogic inversions – a series of postures which benefit the body greatly when practiced correctly. In this workshop we will address the challenges and benefits of including inversions in your practice and the foundations of the main inversions, Salamba Sarvangasana (shoulder stand), Sirsasana (headstand), Pincha Mayurasana (forearm stand), and Adho Mukha Vrksasana (handstand). We will playfully experiment with flexibility and strength drills for individuals and partner groups and modifications and variations using props.
This workshop will challenge and expand your inversion practice by exploring variations and transitions (including the use of props) in Sirsasana (Headstand), Pincha Mayurasana (Forearm stand), and Adho Mukha Vrksasana (Handstand). Andy will continue your preparation for more advanced inversions with strength, conditioning, and flexibility exercises for individuals, partners, and groups. As a group, we will dive deeper into the challenges which come up in a more advanced inversion practice. Students who already have an inversion practice will benefit most from this workshop.
This workshop is designed to kick start or expand your exploration of arm balances through discussion, individual and partner exercises, and pose experimentation. Working from an intelligent base of body mechanics and physics, we will put in the work to develop ease in a variety of balances, depending on which poses the participants want to work on.
Join Andy for a dynamic and exciting workshop to build strength, grace, and flexibility with Acro Yoga. Expect independent and partner drills and time practicing foundational poses, calibrations, and transitions as base, flyer, and spotter. The class is open to beginners and experienced practitioners alike, and you do not even need to bring a partner.
This workshop is designed to help everyone, from beginner to advanced practitioners, further explore the alignment of foundational postures based on individual anatomy. We will discuss general human anatomy used to move the body, how bodies differ, how poses differ with bodies, and how to use props to improve your practice. Expect to work in large groups, small groups, and partners, to give and receive observations and physical adjustments in a variety of postures.
